We shall be pleased to welcome you at our university in Eskişehir which is situated at half way between İstanbul and Ankara within easy reach of both cities. Eskişehir has a distinguished place in history being the capital of Phrygia. The city of King Midas (Yazılıkaya), Gordion where Alexander the great cut the famous knot to open up the way to Asia for his armies and Pessinus (Ballıhisar) where the biggest temple of Kybele the Goddess of Goddesses, the greatest goddess of antiquity in Anatolia are not far from Eskişehir. Söğüt, the birth place of the Ottoman Empire which reigned in three continents for six centuries is also very close by. Eskişehir is also world famous for the best quality meerschaum, a semi-precious white stone which is usually carved to make smoke pipes and necklaces. Kütahya the home to best ceramic china works is only one hour ride from Eskişehir.
The rich and diverse flora of Eskişehir is due to its geographical location in a transect of 200 m to 1829 m stretching from Sakarya valley, a microclimate region enjoying Mediterranean climate through steppe vegetation up to Baba Hill in Türkmen Mountain.
Above all, Eskişehir is a city of higher education with universities and has a strong industrial of agricultural base with high-tech industries taking harbour.
